Four Months In — And Just Getting Started

Back in April, The Bridge Weekly Sho-Case turned a new page in its long history. When Yankee Kingdom Media took ownership, we stepped into a legacy that spans over six decades — a paper built on trust, tradition, and a deep connection to the communities of Caledonia County, Orange County, and Grafton County. It’s hard to believe it's already been four months, and we want to share a moment of reflection with you — our readers, advertisers, and neighbors.

When we began this journey, we made a few promises: to honor the strong foundation this paper was built on, to expand what’s possible for a local weekly publication, and to provide consistent, relevant, and meaningful content to the region we call home.

Today, we're proud to say we’ve followed through on those commitments. In fact, we've made great strides already. The paper is now printed in full color, helping stories, ads, and photographs come alive in ways that reflect the energy and vibrancy of our towns.

We’ve also grown the page count — giving us more space to share stories that matter, highlight voices in our community, and offer more opportunities for local businesses to connect with their audience. We’ve reintroduced direct home mailing, bringing the paper right to your mailbox — a service that had been paused but has now returned to make the paper more accessible than ever, especially for those living farther from town centers.

We’ve introduced two exciting new features that we believe reflect the heart of small-town life:

“The Paper Plate” — our new dining guide that spotlights local restaurants, cafés, diners, and food trucks. It’s a delicious way to discover something new and support the places that feed our communities.

“The Puzzle Patch” — a full puzzle page designed for all ages, bringing families and readers together in a fun and interactive way. Whether it’s a crossword, word search, or riddle, we wanted to add a little weekly joy into each issue.

But the real story of The Bridge Weekly Sho-Case isn’t told by new features or fresh ink. It's told by the people who support it. The businesses who buy ads. The nonprofits who share their events. The towns and municipalities that keep readers informed. The individuals who send us stories, tips, and kind notes. You are the reason this paper continues to thrive.

None of this — the mailing, the color, the content, the growth — would be possible without your support. We are fully aware that every ad you place is an investment in not only your business, but in the community itself. And we take that seriously.

So here are a few promises we’d like to make, again, with even more conviction than we had four months ago:

We will be here, week after week, supporting you as you support us.

We will remain hyper-local, focused on telling stories that matter to the people of this region.

We will continue to highlight the businesses, nonprofits, and people who are making a difference.

As you read through each issue, we ask that you take a moment to really notice the businesses and organizations that fill these pages. These are your neighbors. These are folks who give back, who keep their doors open late, who sponsor local events, who donate to school fundraisers, and who take pride in serving our communities. They’ve made a choice to invest in The Bridge Weekly Sho-Case, and they deserve our appreciation and our business.

We’re also continuing to invest in the digital side of the paper. Our website is being steadily improved, offering more content and easier navigation. Whether you're looking for puzzle answers, dining suggestions, or feature stories, we want our online presence to serve you just as reliably as the printed paper does.

This work is not always easy — but it is deeply rewarding. It’s an honor to be entrusted with something as personal and vital as the local newspaper. And it’s a responsibility we don’t take lightly.

Thank you to all of you who have supported us during these first four months. Your encouragement, your ideas, and your belief in local media are what fuel this effort. We are here because you believe local stories still matters. And it does.

Here’s to continuing the legacy — and building the next chapter together.

With gratitude and commitment,
Joshua Smith
